Odds are that at some point in your working career you have said to yourself, "Self, if I found something else that I liked, I would do it"?  I did!  How many times have you said, “I hate my JOB, the Boss, and the Commute”?  I liked what I was doing. 

I believe we all have made these comments at one time or another. For those of you that remember the song 16 Tons by Tennessee Ernie Ford. 

There is a phrase in the song that says "I owe my soul to the company store". You bet, you owe, your soul, to the company store due to commitment and obligation. 

This commitment comes in the way of our needs as medical benefits, weekly salary. You have to pay for the house, braces, the children's books, schools etc. Even if you don't have the house, braces, the children's books etc. 

You have commitments and obligations. Ask yourself this question, “Will the company store make me rich when I don't own it?”

Answer this question how secure is your job? 

Over the last several months there have been over 85,000 thousand plus jobs lost. 

In 2008 major financial companies in NY closed their doors. The employees went home the previous night, and the next morning the front doors were locked. The company went out of business. Thousands of people lost their jobs. 

Thousands more will lose their jobs over the next several years. I’ve seen in the newspaper that between 2008 and 2009 it is estimated that 3 million people will lose their jobs. On a news commentary during the month of April 09 it was said that the unemployed reached 6.02 million people.

When the company decides to downsize are they concerned about your commitments, to the house, braces, children's books, schools etc. They are not, you are a bottom line dollar for them, and you are expendable.
